Business owners in Las Vegas often as me, “How do I get a Gaming License?” Often, it’s a Business owner that has a convenience store, restaurant, or tavern. Obtaining a Gaming License can add a great deal to the profits of your Business.
As with all Business Licenses, the first step is to determine what jurisdiction you’re located in. Similar to Liquor Licenses, you’ll need to submit documentation to local government for approval.
Las Vegas has a large number of attorneys that handle Gaming Licenses, but if you’re looking to save a few thousand dollars I would hire a Licensed Business Consultant. For example, the Taylor Consulting Group works with Enrolled Agents and Licensed attorneys to get our clients their Gaming License.
Generally, it takes about 6 months from the time of your application submittal to get your Gaming License. The Nevada State Gaming Control Board will conduct a background investigation of each applicant before a public hearing is scheduled. Your Consultant and/or Attorney will appear at all public hearings before the Gaming Control Board to represent your application.
