Clark County Could Ease Regulations On Work Cards

For many decades, business owners and employees have been required to obtain work cards in the City of Las Vegas and Clark County in order to lawfully be employed. As you can imagine, this is a huge cost to Metro and local governments. I often talk about government regulating business too much, and preventing the private sector from moving forward in a speedy and productive manner. The work card issue is a great example of big government trying to inject itself into the lives of businesses and workers. While I would agree that a need exists to have SOME employees obtain work cards, I would suggest that it be directed towards ensuring the safety of our children and monitoring the integrity of security personnel. As you’ll see in this article printed in today’s Las Vegas Sun, this is a very contentious issue–there will be lots to say at the July County Commission Meeting on this topic.
